Right from the giddy-up Im going to admit…I grow attached to certain yarns. I grow attached to the point where I don’t want to use them as they are soooo beautiful and help create the color sounds I like to hear when I walk into the studio. I admire them as I do a Romare Bearden collage. Looking at it hundreds of times and never tiring of it, seeing something new, undiscovered, with each glance.
Kinda’ deep I know, but that’s how I feel about Cascade 220 Superwash Wave. It’s hard to describe the aesthetic of this worsted plied amazement. Discovered in the same LYS “Cheers To Ewe!” as the first Yarn Diary Yarn, and having purchased a few hanks in solar, then in blue green and onward to forest, (an odd color for me, but Imma’ funk it up with something bright), no matter the color choice, Wave brings my head gear swag game to life with its high contrasts, tonals, twists and in some spaces, solids, in the most spectacular way.
With the solar colorway, the heart and soul of my own tangerine dreams, its like a sunset, but then not as it bursts once again in all its clementine glory. It provides just the right amount of sass to the Funky Crochet “Twisted Sis Hat”, a pattern that is available for purchase in the “SHOP”. Be it in the Front cross stitch (Fcr) or the bodacious tassels, it definitely gives those
that have an opportunity to take it all in at the local…wherever I shop, something to wink and smile about.
Their website shares that Cascade is a family own company, focused on quality incorporating a variety of yarns. There are a few of their other yarns Im fond of, aka have in my stash in multiple color ways and will wax on…on the by and by. For now its all about that Wave.
